Chrysin is a naturally occurring flavone chemically extracted from the blue passion flower (Passiflora caerulea). It is also reported in Oroxylum indicum or Indian trumpetflower. Chrysin was once believed to be an effective aromatase inhibitor, decreasing the levels of estrogen in the body. Chrysin has been shown to induce an anti-inflammatory effect, most likely by inhibition of COX-2 expression and via IL-6 signaling. Evodiamine is a chemical which is extracted from the evodia spp family of plants which has been shown to reduce fat uptake in mouse studies. evodiamine can raise body temperature, influence the metabolism of certain drugs, and influence the secretion of catecholamines from the adrenal glands. Evodiamine stimulates the vanilloids to reduce the uptake of fat and increase the natural rate of burning fat. Recent scientific studies have backed up this traditional knowledge.
