Information |
Chrysin (480-40-0) |
Chrysin is a naturally occurring flavone chemically extracted from the blue passion flower (Passiflora caerulea). It is also reported in Oroxylum indicum or Indian trumpetflower. Chrysin was once believed to be an effective aromatase inhibitor, decreasing the levels of estrogen in the body. Chrysin has been shown to induce an anti-inflammatory effect, most likely by inhibition of COX-2 expression and via IL-6 signaling. Chrysin has been shown to induce an anti-inflammatory effect, most likely by inhibition of COX-2 expression and via IL-6 signaling. In rodent in vivo studies, chrysin was found anxiolytic. |

Diindolylmethan(1968-05-4) |
3,3¡ä-Diindolylmethane or DIM is an anticarcinogen compound derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol,found in Brassica vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. The reputation of Brassica vegetables as medicinal plants rests in part on the activities of diindolylmethane . As a dimer of indole-3-carbinol, diindolylmethane (DIM) promotes beneficial estrogen metabolism in both sexes by reducing the levels of 16-hydroxy estrogen metabolites and increasing the formation of 2-hydroxy estrogen metabolites, resulting in increased antioxidant activity. |

Evodiamine (518-17-2) |
Evodiamine is a chemical which is extracted from the evodia spp family of plants which has been shown to reduce fat uptake in mouse studies. evodiamine can raise body temperature, influence the metabolism of certain drugs, and influence the secretion of catecholamines from the adrenal glands. Evodiamine stimulates the vanilloids to reduce the uptake of fat and increase the natural rate of burning fat. Recent scientific studies have backed up this traditional knowledge. Mammals fed a high-fat diet plus evodiamine actually lose, rather than gain weight. |

Indole-3-carbinol (700-06-1) |
Indole-3-carbinol (C9H9NO) is produced by the breakdown of the glucosinolate glucobrassicin, which can be found at relatively high levels in cruciferous vegetables. Indole-3-carbinol is the subject of on-going Biomedical research into its possible anticarcinogenic, antioxidant, and anti-atherogenic effects |

Melatonin (73-31-4) |
Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain by the pineal gland, from the amino acid tryptophan. The synthesis and release of melatonin are stimulated by darkness and suppressed by light, suggesting the involvement of melatonin in circadian rhythm and regulation of diverse body functions. Levels of melatonin in the blood are highest prior to bedtime. Synthetic melatonin supplements have been used for a variety of medical conditions, most notably for disorders related to sleep. Melatonin possesses antioxidant activity, and many of its proposed therapeutic or preventive uses are based on this property.
